Allure Sample Society - September 2014

Sample Society is brought to us by Allure Magazine and includes five deluxe sized beauty products (hair, makeup, and skin). It is only $15 and they charge tax in certain states (I'm not sure which ones, but I was charged an extra $1.05 in Georgia). Included with each box is a coupon for $10 off a $50 purchase from BeautyBar. This month, it only took three days from ship date to arrival (I'm hoping this continues!) and arrives UPS--amazing! I actually received my shipping notification the day after delivery, which cracks me up, but they do send them out!

This month, the box was based off of Fashion 'Week' (it's really like Fashion Month, or longer, but I know it's technically called week). The theme is 'The Miracle Workers' and the products are the necessities for the long week where everything falls apart (my words, but it's true). It's definitely not my favorite box of the month, but it is worth quite a bit. Now on to the box!

The box is so pretty, but there is damage not pictured due to being packaged in such a small shipping box. I wish the shipping boxes were like a quarter of an inch bigger, that way it wouldn't be sooooo hard to get the product box.

The beauty booklet/mini magazine included. It shows what all is included and gives information about the products, so more information than the typical info card.

First look. I had already known what was coming, due to lovely women posting spoilers, but I was still shocked to see how big and how small some of the products were.

Restorsea Revitalizing Eye Cream ($85.00) - This was the item that everyone was dying over. This is a moisturizing, anti-aging eye cream that can be used by those with sensitive skin and contact-lens users. I know it sounds amazing, but I really don't use eye creams. I know I should, but I just can't get into a skincare routine. (Bad me.)

Lorac POREfection Mattifying Face Primer ($3.20) - I've gotten this numerous times by ordering Lorac products so this was nothing new to me. It is a clear gel that is silky and slippery without making your skin oily or have a fragrance. While it's a great primer, there's nothing spectacular about it. I have about four more of these sample tubes (just of this), so it will be a while before I get to using this particular tube.

Tarte Brazilliance Self Tanning Face Towelettes ($9.00) - I keep hearing about these and how wonderful they are, but I don't tan. This is supposed to leave a natural-looking bronze without the self-tanner smell. I'm sure it delivers something close to this, but it's useless on those that are super pale and especially going into the months when I'm even more pale than usual.

Givenchy Dahlia Divin ($2.17) - This is described as having notes of jasmine, patchouli, sandalwood, vetiver, and mirabelle plum. I'm not sure what some of that is supposed to smell like, but this smells great. It reminds me of walking into Macy's or Nordstroms where it smells amazing and expensive. I'll definitely work this into my perfume rotation, but only for fancier occasions!

Alterna Caviar Repair Rx Re-Texturizing Protein Cream ($9.26) - This is a leave-in conditioner for damaged and dry hair, which I definitely have after all of the treatments! It's supposed to moisturize and fill in cracks in your hair's cuticles to make it stronger and smoother. I can definitely see myself using this for a while, or as long as it lasts. I'm interested to see how well it works compared to the leave-in conditioner that I currently use, and to see if I would prefer this over my current salon brand!

The value of this box is $108.63, which is ridiculous for such an inexpensive box! While I probably won't get much use out of the products, I can definitely see where others are falling in love with it. It's a great box, just full of stuff I won't end up using. For those of you that received this, what were your thoughts on it? Specifically, what were your thoughts on the eye cream? Were you pleased or a little let down like I was. Let me know in the comments!
