The Howling Boutique's Supermoon Lacquer - A Boy's Best Friend Review | August 2017 Polish Pickup | Swatch My Stash

Happy Thursday, y'all. Hope your week has been going well! I've been working a crap-ton this week and trying to get back in the swing of blogging but I'm managing so far, which is making me feel pretty good with myself. Today I have an oldie from Polish Pickup last year where the theme was Old Hollywood. A Boy's Best friend was based on the Norman Bates line from Psycho, 'A boy's best friend is his mother.' I was an instant fan of just the inspiration and I knew the polish would be an instant hit.

A Boy's Best Friend is a dark-gray/black base that leans brownish-purple in certain lighting/angles filled with with red color-shifting shimmer, rose pearl flakies, red holo and metallic micro-glitter, silver holo micro-glitter, and silver holo flakies.

Brush macro.

Glossy nail macro.

Ugh, this is one of those polishes that's just perfect. I love the bits that pop but the red shimmer is to die for. It's one that would work for spookier days or every other day (unless you live your life every day like it's Halloween like I do).

The polish itself applied wonderfully. No issues were noted and it was an easy two-coater.

Matte nail macro. This picture went a lot bluer than the polish is.

I really don't like this polish matte, which is a strange thing for me with flakies, but it really pops with a glossy top coat.

Formula: Very good.
Coats Used: Two coats.
Ease of Dry: Quick dry.
Texture: None noted.
Finish: Shine.
Removal: No issues.
Top Coat Used: Glossy/Matte.

As always, let me know what you thought of this polish in the comments!
