Blue-Eyed Girl Lacquer - Scarlet Flame Review | Polish Pickup October 2018
Happy Wednesday! This week I actually have things I have to do out of the house this weekend, which I'm happy about but also irritated about because that requires putting on non-comfy clothes. It's Polish Pickup weekend and I have Blue-Eyed Girl Lacquer's polish on my blog today! The October '18 theme is Villains and BEGL's inspiration is none other than Smaug from the Hobbit.
This polish is a magentic and it has an option to purchase with or without a magnet. With magnet: $15.00, cap of 75. Without magnet: $13.00, cap of 100.
Polish Pickup is a monthly polish shopping extravaganza! Each month, there's a new theme (voted on by group members) and makers individually decide if they want to participate and create their own polish to meet the theme. This month, the store is open from 10/5-10/8, and you can buy as many or as few polishes as you want. The shipping is $3.00 total (US) (there's a $5 flat rate for Canada), no matter how many polishes you get, and they combine shipping if you make more than one order during the weekend!

Scarlet Flame is a burgundy/eggplant (depending on the angle) base with gold sparking shimmers, red microflakies, gold and rusty red glass flecks, and a gold to red shifting magnetic pigment.

So, I learned so many things with this polish. First of all, the best way to apply a magentic polish is to use the magnet AFTER you put on a top coat but while it's stlll wet. Cue all of the head exploding GIFs. I didn't use the magnet that comes with the polish as it does a single line and I wanted to show off the magnetic better. I cannot send you to the magnet I used as it's one from our trip to Germany.
The polish applied so nicely, only taking one coat for full opacity. There was a bit of texture but it was more visible under the light than what I could feel. I used two coats of top coat to smooth it out.
Matte nail macro.
I kinda love this matte. You can still easily see the magnetic bits but the red shift isn't as obvious under normal lighting.
Formula: Very good.
Coats Used: One coat.
Ease of Dry: Normal.
Texture: Smallest bit noted.
As always, let me know what you thought of this polish in the comments!
