Treatsie - August 2016

What is Treatsie?: Treatsie is a monthly subscription box with sweets! It's actually a box with artisan sweets, so the kinds of things I won't normally spend the time to make but love eating. Each box has food from three different vendors so there will always be a good variety and plenty to sample from.

How Much is Treatsie?: Treatsie is $19.95/month but guarantees at least a $25 value, and you can always lower your monthly cost by subscribing for longer terms. If you click here to sign up, you will get double sweets for your first month!

More food in the mail? I'll take it! Especially when that food is sweets.

Torn Ranch Toffee Macadamia Cookies & Chocolate Chip Cookies ($4.75/$4.50) - These are advertised as soft cookies but they weren't particularly soft. I prefer my cookies so soft that when you hold one side, the other starts to fall down. The chocolate chip ones are good but not great but the toffee macadamia ones just aren't my thing (I am not one that wants any sort of nut in my desserts). They are fine for receiving in this box but I wouldn't repurchase these for myself or a gift.

Butterfields Muscadine Buds & Cherry Buds ($2.50/$2.50) - Do people still generally eat hard candies as a regular thing? I usually only eat peppermints and only when my throat is sore. These are nice, they have a good flavor and I really like the cherry ones, but I'm not sure if this is something I would purchase for myself again.

Avenue Sweets Assorted Caramels ($2.75) - These are no longer available on the Treatsie website, so I am basing this on the Avenue Sweets website. Also, why do we have to have flavored caramels? Why can companies not just send a plain caramel? Neither of us in this house like flavored caramels, especially not in flavors such as cappuccino or butter rum, so these were a pass.

This month's Treatsie box was valued at $17 which is far lower than the promised value of $25. This has been two months that the value isn't what they promise, which leads me to believe they over-inflate the values of their items or just don't meet expectations. The box is still a nice one to purchase if the value of trying new and often unheard of brands and items means more than true monetary value, it just isn't for me.

Let me know what you thought of this box in the comments!
