Lip Love - September 2016

What is Lip Love?: Lip Love is a monthly subscription box by So Susan. Each month will include at least three full-sized products, one bonus makeup, and one bonus accessory. Each month you get a unique canvas bag as well.

How Much is Lip Love?: Lip Love is $20.95 (American) per month with international shipping available. I did have to pay a foreign transaction fee because they are located in the UK, so make sure you know that ahead of time. They have begun shipping from a US distribution center, but shipping time doesn't seem to have gotten any faster. The bags get cheaper if you do longer subscriptions, so that's always great.

I really like the foxes on this month's bag!

Info card.

So Susan Cosmetics Cheek Rethink ($22.95) - I was actually really thinking I'd hate this but it turned out I really liked it. The creme side (left) is really creamy but be VERY careful applying, it is very pigmented and doesn't blend out a lot. If you apply it and then quickly spread it where you want it, you should be fine. The powder side is a very light pink as well as very illuminated, so I prefer it as a highlighter than a blush, and on top of this creme blush.

Trifle Cosmetics Sweet Strobe ($19.95) - Woah, white highlight. I tried this on my cheeks, inner corner of my eyes, tip of my nose, and my cupid's bow and the only place I didn't like it was on my cheek bones. This is a very white highlight and it just looked like a white streak on my cheeks rather than a glow. I'm not one to say 'I only want a natural glow' but I also don't want a white line on my face! It's also a super soft pencil so go light with it!

Jelly Pong Pong Lip Butter (Hot Air Balloons) ($18.95) - I can't fully explain it, but I just don't like this lipstick. It's a light pink/nude almost pearlescent lipstick. It's creamy but settles into any lines in your lips like a matte liquid lipstick. My lips are naturally pinker and this almost completely covers it, so you really have to like this color in tube if you want to wear it. It doesn't dry all the way down and it transferred when drinking, to the point where there wasn't any lip stick on my lips when I finished my drink.

So Susan Cosmetics Mesmer-Eyes ($21.95) - They advertised this eye liner as one that is 'here to stay' and they are right. After I swatched this, I had to do some serious work to get the swatch off. It did feather a bit in the swatch but that might be due to it being so liquid-y. It dries to a semi-matte finish which I love, but it's not going to be my favorite liner. Instead of being a pen, it's a wand with a well you dip into and the wand itself isn't great. It's like a plastic, mess of a wand. A lot is good about this liner, but a lot is bad as well.

Swatches L-R: Cheek Rethink, Sweet Strobe, Lip Butter, Mesmer-Eyes.

I liked this bag in part, mostly the Sweet Strobe but also liked the Cheek Rethink. I did like the mix but I'm starting to think they are running out of items to send without repeating, so here's hoping for new products by these brands in the new year!
