Lip Love - August 2016

What is Lip Love?: Lip Love is a monthly subscription box by So Susan. Each month will include at least three full-sized products, one bonus makeup, and one bonus accessory. Each month you get a unique canvas bag as well.

How Much is Lip Love?: Lip Love is $20.95 (American) per month with international shipping available. I did have to pay a foreign transaction fee because they are located in the UK, so make sure you know that ahead of time. They have begun shipping from a US distribution center, but shipping time doesn't seem to have gotten any faster. The bags get cheaper if you do longer subscriptions, so that's always great.

All the products.

Makeup Bag ($12.00) - Still love these bags but I'm finally getting to the point where I don't know what to do with these bags anymore.

Info card.

Trifle Cosmetics Lip Sorbet ($18.95) - This is a sugar scrub, just an everyday sugar scrub that you could easily get from an indie company or make yourself. It does have some colorants to give it the shade of deep red as well as perfumes to make it smell grape-y. I definitely would not have purchased this alone, a sugar scrub is easy to make and you could do it in whatever flavor you wanted or lack thereof. It does what it's supposed to do, but for a high cost.

So Susan Cosmetics Fan Brush ($22.74) - The price discrepancy from what was printed on the card to what the website says is interesting. I wouldn't have paid $18 for this brush so I definitely wouldn't pay $23 for it. It's a wonderful brush with great synthetic fibers, perfect for brushing off my powder after baking, but you can get a good fan brush from a set from BH Cosmetics for less and get more than one brush. (Side note, there will be a post eventually about the brushes from BH I recently purchased and am testing out now).

Jelly Pong Pong Lip Butter (Seashells) ($18.95) - This is PINK pink, crazy bubblegum pink, makes you a little nauseous, almost Pepto-Bismol pink. I love the formula of it, it's super creamy and has a nice gloss, but it is easy to wipe off and had the tendency to rub off if I tried to drink or eat soon after applying. We've received a few of these in the past few bags, but luckily this one didn't fall out of the tube immediately!

Trifle Cosmetics Praline Palette ($21.95) - This is TINY, like smaller than drugstore palettes tiny. No way I would ever pay $21.95 for such a small amount of eye shadow, no matter how amazing they are. I really liked how it applied with my finger as well as a brush but please, throw the included applicator away immediately. Brands should just stop including those, it's not worth trying at this point. The shadows are nice but the bronze on the end is so creamy and amazing, I would love a pot of it!

Swatches.

The bag value based on the info card is $89.90. Would I pay full price for any of these products on their own? Absolutely not. But for $21, I can handle it. The products aren't bad, I just feel like they are all way overpriced compared to the other makeup/brushes I buy/receive/try. I did really like the entire bag, though, and will be using them all for a bit!
