WHAT'S IN THE BOX: Five polishes for the Potterheads among us and some Bertie Bott's Every-Flavour Beans to snack on while you're doing your Potions homework.

I am a huge Harry Potter fan, I was the kid that read the books, went to the movie releases, and was convinced that my letter to Hogwarts was one of the ones that Voldemort destroyed. Nouveau Geek Box is a newer one, but the themes have been amazing so far. Make sure to join the Fan Group to see past boxes and stay in the loop for the next one! I will say, those Beans are a no-go. I tried them way back when they came out originally and I only got bad ones. I won't be fooled again!

Crumple-Horned Snorkack by Ellison's Organics.

Crumple-Horned Snorkack by Ellison's Organics -  This glitter polish with chameleon glitter, holo stars and hex, blue/green squares and silver lightning bolts is perfect for the studious yet strange Ravenclaw. It changes color over a dark polish, showing untold depth. There's more to this polish than meets the eye.

Macro!

I used Crumple-Horned Snorkack over a white base, as it wasn't opaque enough to be used alone. I also used three coats to get all of the good glitters out as best as I could. The glitter base is absolutely amazing, I love the gold!

So much glitter! All of the colors pop so well and remind me of a dragon egg, even though the Crumpe-Horned Snorkack actually doesn't exist.

Matte!

Oh my, that glitter base matte is so perfect. I would buy a polish that was just the glitter base if I could matte it every day. Because it is a glitter bomb, it does need a really good top coat to smooth it out.

Such a cute little dragon polish.

Accidental Horcrux by Firecracker Lacquer.

Accidental Horcrux by Firecracker Lacquer -  inspired by the tragic night Harry lost his parents and, unbeknownst to most, also became a Horcrux. At least he came out with a cool scar...? A bright (some may even say Hufflepuff) yellow crelly filled with lightning bolts in black and holo silver, and a bright blue sparkle.

Macro!

I admit, I wouldn't have known the sparkle was there if I hadn't read the press information or taken the macro pictures. It's a very slight blue shimmer/sparkle and you have to really look for it to find it. I did three coats of Accidental Horcrux without a base, and you can see that it's not fully opaque.

Matte!

I did see a bit of unmixed pigment on my pointer finger. I didn't notice it on any other nails, so it was most likely a fluke. I also did have a hard time getting the glitters out, as you can see they sank slightly. I used the polish after keeping it upside down for a few hours. I wish the glitters had come in a baggy to add after I used the polish, but that's my preference. This is a very smoothed out polish, though, so just a little bit of top coat smooths it perfectly.

Yay for lightning bolts! The lightning bolts are in the middle coat so they are covered with one coat of polish.

Avada Kedavra by BlackLace Cosmetics

Avada Kedavra by BlackLace Cosmetics - This blackened teal jelly holo is the color of last thing you'll see before your spirit's taken away - an unspeakable Unforgivable. Take just your breath away instead with this stunning color!

Macro.

If you've been around for a while, you know I love blues and a teal jelly is just perfect. Add in some holographic polish and blacken it, and I'm definitely ready for fall! I used three coats and you can see how squishy it is.

Look at all of the holographic! I love how it definitely pulls from the movie for the inspiration.

Matte!

Matte, it looks more velvety and flattened out. I didn't have any issue in application, the only thing I would change is that I would use a white base to lose the visible nail line. It wasn't a rough polish, so I only added the top coat for effect!

Look at all of the holographic! I'm so loving this base color.

Seeds of Greatness by Bohemian Polish.

Seeds of Greatness by Bohemian Polish - A Slytherin green holo designed for someone who isn't afraid of being cunning and crafty if it means getting the job done. Rather than hide in the shadows, the holographic sparkle gives glints of house pride!

Macro!

A shifty green that I definitely love. I'm not always behind greens, they either really work for me or they don't, but this one is so cool. It's a metallic finish, so it looks more yellow toned or more blue toned depending on the lighting. I used two coats and it became almost fully opaque!

You can see just the slightest bit of visible nail line here which I couldn't actually see until I looked at the pictures.

Matte!

Because it is a metallic finish you can see brush strokes. It's not something that bothers me a lot but I wish I could figure out a way to eliminate it.

I just love this green. I'm already thinking of ways to incorporate it in nail art that maybe I will feel confident enough about it to show you!

Brave at Heart by Sassy Pants Polish.

Brave at Heart by Sassy Pants Polish - Inspired by Gryffindor, this polish is a scarlet red shimmer with gold holographic microglitter and gold flakies. If the Sorting Hat placed you in Gryffindor, this is what you want to show your house pride - or, if you're rooting for a certain ginger keeper in the Quidditch match, show support for another house. (Weasley is always our king!)

Macro.

Of course, there was going to be a red in a Harry Potter themed box. I love that this one references 'Weasley is Our King,' one of my favorite parts of the story! I used three thin coats to layer on the glitters and it became fully opaque.

I love how the glitters look under the red base, it's fire!

Matte. Seriously guys, check out the glitters.

I love the intricacy involved with this polish. Each element works together perfectly. Because it does have so many glitters and flakes, you will need a top coat to smooth it out. It doesn't have to be a very thick one, it just needs a little help.

Just, yes. I lost words while swatching this, it just screams Harry Potter.

This box is currently available, and it is in pre-order. You will have until the 10th to purchase it, so hurry up and do that now! I loved each polish for their own individual reasons and there is no arguing that the makers know Harry Potter and based the box around their love of Harry Potter!

Which was your favorite polish? Let me know in the comments!
