Julep - May 2015 (The Set Sail Collection)

Julep is a monthly nail polish subscription box (as well as the occasional beauty/skin product), and it's amazing. It's so addictive to receive new polishes every month and be able to pick what you want to get. There currently now is MyMaven for $24.99/month or $19.99/month if you prepay for three months and Maven Luxe for $39.99/month. My Maven gets you the regular boxes each month and you can swap out products for the ones they have selected. Maven Luxe works the same way, but it's for higher valued items. You can now skip regardless of when you signed up for you account, which is a great incentive!

There is still the referral program in place, and each referral earns you $15 to spend in the store. The Jules are still being earned and used, but they are only earned if you take the box or anniversaries and can be used either on monthly boxes or in the Jule Box. Still one of the best bonuses of being a Maven is that you receive 20% off all store items and free shipping on all orders!

This month introduced their normal new nail colors, along with 'Feels Like Velvet' eyeshadow duos, new Plush Pout colors, and a new type of box, the 'Surprise Me' box. I chose to get a regular box and added on some goodies that I thought I needed!

This box fit in my mailbox, which is a new feeling for me. Since I usually get an upgrade, my boxes never fit in my apartment box.

I chose to get the Classic with a Twist box, so I received Shelby & Amanda.
Shelby - Navy ink creme.
Amanda - Pink dahlia creme.

I also added on the special add-on, Moni, as well as one monthly color, Becca (Boho).
Moni - Coastal blue creme.
Becca - Viridian tide shimmer.

Using all four colors. Sorry for the poor cleanup, my brush has died so there's only so much I could do. :( All four colors are ONE COAT! I forgot how much I loved Julep's formula, and these hit the ball out the park. They all went on smoothly and leveled without any effort. I always seem to buy blues and almost always love them, but this pink is to die for and I would definitely use it for accent or if I ever decided to do nail art.

My monthly box came with one duo, but I had to add on a second after seeing swatches. These are Luck & Magic and 5th Avenue & Broadway.

Swatches. All four shadows went on so nicely and reminded me of some very high-end shadows. Both Luck and Magic are darker, and I would use as part of a smokey eye. 5th Avenue and Broadway are both great highlights, which is why I chose this set, but they could also be used for a simple day look.

I also finally decided to try out a Plush Pout. Four colors were added, but I only chose one since I wasn't sure if I would like them or not. I really feel like I chose a great color in Vintage (mauve) and I think it looks great on me.

They sent out Doublestep as the extra for taking three add-ons. This is definitely not something I would purchase, so it's being given away to a friend. I like that they send you a little something extra for taking three add-ons, but I wish they would send something a little better than leftovers that don't sell.

Overall, I was super pleased with my box. I did pay my regular rate of $19.99 plus the cost of my add-ons, but they are still priced lower than what you would pay after the box releases. I am so happy with the colors I chose and I'm really, really happy that I decided to try out their beauty products. They can be hit or miss sometimes, but the new shadow duos are amazing and the plush pouts are so smooth and moisturizing that I could wear it all day, every day. If you got Julep for May, let me know what you thought about it and don't forget the window closes on Sunday!
