Boxycharm vs. Birchbox vs. Ipsy - April 2015

This month's compare (which is a little late) is a bit different because I started getting two Ipsy bags! One profile is my old one and I will continue to review and update the profile to get what should match up to me, while the other will just be completely random. I will still compare all three of the 'big' subscriptions and I will make sure to say which one is my regular subscription and which is my 'extra.' Check out past BoxycharmBirchbox, and Ipsy as well!

April's Boxycharm was valued at $126.90, of course using the sale price of the palette rather than what Boxycharm was promoting it as. It included Coolway Smoothing Lotion, Harvey Prince Hello Mini Roller, Vincent Longo Duo Lip Pencil, Coastal Scents Revealed 2, and OFRA Derma Mineral Powder. The monetary value, when it only cost $21, is pretty good without looking at it's personal usefulness.
I didn't really love anything from this box. Out of everything, the Coolway was the best product and only because I have been wanting a hair lotion and was hoping it would do amazing things for my hair. Perfume isn't anything special, especially when it's the same brand every single time. The CS palette is one that I've had a few times now and gotten rid of every single time. The lip pencil has proven to be absolutely useless and was not used once. Finally, the OFRA powder isn't anything spectacular and definitely not something that I would buy on my own. Pretty much, a fail of a box.

April's Birchbox was valued at $31.83, but was such a huge let-down for me that I would have given up if I weren't in a yearly subscription. It included Liz Earle Eyebright Soothing Eye Lotion, Whish Shave Crave Shaving Cream, Beauty Protector Protect & Oil, Cargo Swimmables Water Resistant Blush, and Anastasia Beverly Hills Clear Brow Gel. It was the curated box for April, but it definitely was not something I would have chosen. I also lost out on points because some products were duplicates, which angered me.
The eye lotion was the biggest 'win' for me. I enjoy the cooling/soothing feel of it and I'm hoping that if I remember to use it like I'm supposed to. I don't use shaving cream, so that was 100% useless to me. I have stated a few times now that the oil is such a pain due to the container, and I will keep saying it. The Cargo blush would be great if it showed up as light as I want it to. The brow gel is absolutely useless because I never, ever do my brows. I'm sure others love it, but it's just not something that I find fun to do. I really only liked one item from this box, but the month was such a let-down because of them blaming me for their screwup of sending me a curated box I didn't want.

April's Ipsy that is my real profile was valued at $36.22, and I would say it followed my profile as narrowly as possible. It included Theorie Ultimate Reform Hair Serum, Mullein & Sparrow Tinted Lip & Cheek Balm, Starlooks Lip Gloss, Hikari Cosmetics Blush, and theBalm Nude Dude. I wasn't sure how I would feel about a lot of these, to be perfectly honest.
I have been using up a lot of my hair products recently, because cutting my hair made me want to take better care of it. It's pretty nice and I actually liked using it! The blush is terrible and way too pink for me to EVER use. The tinted balm is amazing and I love how huge it is, it's been put in my purse and I use it all of the time. The shadow is great and I love products from theBalm, so it's made me consider purchasing the entire palette. Finally, the lip gloss is a good shade but I am curious to know how old it is, because it was sampled in October for Ipsy as well, in the same shade.

April's Ipsy that is my extra profile was valued at $43.28, and showed that you can get a ton of duplicates if you get two bags. It included Hey Honey Good Morning Honey Silk Facial Serum, Starlooks Lip Gloss, Jor'el Parker, theBalm Nude Dude, and Hikari Cosmetics Blush. Three of the five items were duplicates, so I was a little on the fence immediately.
The only two extras were pretty decent ones. I do like Hey Honey products, but it was very empty. I also enjoyed the perfume more than I expected and I love that it's a rollerball, I'm much less messy that way.

Overall, none of the boxes were overly spectacular. I had one item from each that I did enjoy, but I just didn't feel like I got my money's worth from any one box or overall. If you got any of these boxes, please let me know what you thought about them. I love hearing feedback.
