Boxycharm - October 2014

Boxycharm is a monthly subscription that costs $21/month. They have monthly themes and send items based on those themes. I've seen boxes average 4-5 items, but some have more items. All of the boxes in a month are usually the same (shades may vary), which is good for spoilers. You also have the entire month to sign up and still be eligible to get that month's box. Shipping does take some time, though. They post that they have 5-10 business days to send you box out.

They have a referral program also that earns you charms. Other ways to earn charms includes reviewing items you receive each month as well as bonus charms for taking a box three months in a row. The charms can be redeemed towards month-specific items which will be sent in your next month's box! This box came fairly quickly, took less than a week from ship date to arrival (shipping email took a few days to come, though).

The theme for October was Bewitched and is obviously about Halloween and getting ready for that!

Once again, this is the info card for everything included.

Everything was packaged in one bubble wrap 'bag.' I also received a replacement perfume that had busted in this box, but the replacement had busted as well, so things got a little messy when I was unwrapping.

Coastal Scents Eclipse Concealer Palette ($19.95) - I can see why people would want to use this, but I just don't find enough use out of palettes like this. The shades are mostly too dark for someone as pale as myself. The three on the far left as well as two of the nudes are fine, but the rest are far too obvious that they are on my face. It's a nice quality for the price, and much better than the ones I've found on Amazon (definitely spend the money!).

Starlooks Ultra Gem Pencil (Ultra Olive) ($14.00) - I've received a few of these Starlooks pencils in various boxes/bags, and I have to admit I love the crap out of them. This one is the perfect green shade to almost be neutral and work with all kinds of eye looks! It's got a bit of shimmer and I definitely use them frequently. They are wooden pencils but don't have a 'wooden' smell like other pencils I have.

Cult/Commerce X Boxycharm Shady Collection ($21.00) - These polishes had a bit of controversy because the brushes were very hard when first using them. It was reported by Boxycharm that they were such due to the bottle being filled high, but that's a load of crap in my opinion. The brushes were problematic at first use, but they do work and the polishes are gorgeous. They lasted for quite a while without any chips or tip-wear. I would have preferred Boxycharm just coming out and being honest about it, but at least it wasn't a bad product.

Be a Bombshell Eyeshadow ($14.00) - I couldn't find a link to the direct color, but I linked to the general single-eyeshadow page. I'm not sure why such a hot pink eyeshadow was sent, because it's not Halloween-y to me, and I don't see a complete use of it in daily use. I love so many of the other BaB colors, but I am searching relentlessly for a use of this shade. The formula is good and up to par of other non HE shadows, so I would love to have other shades in my bag!

Palmetto Derma Collagen Booster & Restoration Serum ($48.00) - This is a very expensive skin serum used for anti-aging. I was actually interested in this product after seeing it, which is weird considering I'm not a huge fan of skincare products. I like that it's not super oily and so I don't feel like I'm slathering my face in butter. I am still waiting to see how long it will last to see if it's worth the cost, though.

The overall value of this box is $116.95, which is about the norm for Boxycharm. It's a good box, mostly because of the eyeliner, but I would love to see more expensive makeups and less of the expensive skincare products to make up the value. Did anyone else get this Boxycharm and get a different shade? Let me know in the comments!

I'm awfully sorry this took so long to be put up. I recently got married and moved to a new city so I'm still adjusting to married life and my new area. Things will be going up quickly to get caught up so keep an eye out!
