Birchbox - September 2014 + Bonus Offer

Birchbox is the original subscription box, and it's still going strong. This month is actually their fourth anniversary, so join me in congratulating Birchbox in lasting that long! It's hard to stay afloat in this economy, and they are doing a great job with it. Even when the box isn't the greatest, I'm always happy to continue my subscription due to the points system. For those that don't know, Birchbox sends anywhere from 4 to 8 products a month (full size, deluxe sample size, and sample size) and you can review your items each month for 10 points/item. You can also get additional points for getting a yearly subscription or getting referrals. Every 100 points you earn is $10 to use in their shop. For $10/month (for the women's box), I think it's worth it for the points alone. Now on to the box!

I just have to say, I was very upset that everyone else gets these awesome names from Birchbox or they get awesome titles and all I get is 'Thanks.' This just sucks for me. I want a super awesome nickname! (By the way, I'm being sarcastic. I really was expecting something different, but I'm not going to die without a good nickname.)

The shipping box was super cute and pink again, which I love.

This month they had designed boxes, I think there were three different designs, to go with their anniversary, which is this month. I love how cute it is and how fashionable it is!

First look.

Theme card. The theme this month is Fresh Paint and it's all about turning the page on Summer and getting ready for Fall, which I definitely am ready for. I'm not a warm-weather girl, so the cooler weather coming in makes me happier than anyone could imagine!

The info card. Sorry this picture isn't straight, I could have sworn it was when I was taking it. One item I received isn't on this card, because it was the Birchbox Find for the month. It also wasn't on my spoilers post because my page just recently updated to include it.

Everything was kind of just thrown in this month. I would have appreciated one of those mini-holders to keep things a little more organized, but at least nothing was messed up!

Real Chemistry Luminous 3-Minute Peel ($4.80) - This is an acid-free peel to get rid of dead and dry skin while avoiding overly drying your face. It caused the dead skin to ball up so you get an obvious result immediately. I had never used a peel before, but this was a great first to use! I admit I was terrified that it would cause me to break out, because my skin is still more sensitive than average, but I haven't had a breakout yet!

Harvey Prince Ageless Liquid Loofah ($0.93) - I was sooooo happy to see that I was getting this Harvey Prince product. I love the fragrance, Hello, so I was excited to be able to smell this different scent. I was pleased at how big the container was because of Birchbox's past with sending foil packs. Before you get too excited, though, be a little sad that the container was almost empty. There were maybe two uses (very small uses) and it was empty. I'm not sure if this was on purpose or accident, but I'm sad regardless.

ChapStick Dual-Ended Hydration Lock Moisturize & Renew ($2.99) - This was the Birchbox Find for the month. It wasn't initially posted on my box's page to show that I was receiving it, but has since updated. This, along with another new ChapStick, are the new products for BB. They also included it in their Birchbloggers giveaway for the week. This particular product is for anti-aging and has both the moisturizing end and the renewing end. Using them together is supposed to give you smoother and fuller looking lips while enriching them with natural butters. I'm interested to try this one as well as the other (that I received in the giveaway) to see if my lips look younger!

TEMPTU S/B Highlighter ($2.75) - UGH. First of all, TEMPTU is supposed to be used as an airbrush makeup, which I do not have. Still, the page says you can use it without, so I figured I would try it. Seriously, though, why send what is supposed to be a highlighter when it's multiple shades darker than the skin you are supposed to be highlighting. It also looks to have micro-glitters, which are still darker than my skin. I can see myself using this with eyeshadows to be shimmery, but I definitely cannot use it as intended.

Acure Organics Day Cream Gotu Kola Stem Cell + 1% CGF ($10.85) - I had to look up quite a bit before I understood the science behind this, but I'm glad that I do now. This is made with gotu kola stem cells to moisturize and protect skin with anti-aging capabilities. I like how they explain the actual science behind it instead of just telling you what it's supposed to do. There is an interesting scent to it, but not bad at all. This is definitely something I'm happy to receive and so excited to see if it actually works!

Macadamia Professional Healing Oil Spray ($14.50) - This was the one item I knew for sure I was receiving. This month, they once again offered the chance to choose one of your samples (or your entire box) and this was the one I chose. I have been interested in this Macadamia spray for quite some time now due to it reducing frizz and still being color safe. That last part is most important to me due to how often I color my hair. I love that they sent the full 2 oz bottle, so I will have plenty to use to determine if I love it or not!

This box is valued at $36.82 plus $6 in points, which is incredible for $10! Overall, I enjoyed this box and will use just about all of the products. What did everyone else get? If you chose a sample, did you get what you chose? If you didn't choose one, were you still happy with your box? Let me know in the comments!

This is an offer included in the box, for those interested!
