Allure Sample Society - August 2014
So this was my first month getting Allure's Sample Society and I was blown away! I allowed myself to be surprised, mostly because I didn't know they did spoilers! While I'm already happy with this subscription, I will give it my customary three months before deciding whether or not I want to keep it permanently.
Sample Society is brought to us by Allure Magazine and includes five deluxe sized beauty products (hair, makeup, and skin). It is only $15 and they charge tax in certain states (I'm not sure which ones, but I was charged an extra $1.05 in Georgia). Included with each box is a coupon for $10 off a $50 purchase from BeautyBar. This month, it only took two days from ship date to arrival (I'm hoping this continues!) and arrives UPS--amazing!
Sample Society comes in a beautiful red box which I could find a use for if I didn't already have a hundred other boxes. It's very sturdy, though, and could be used for storage!
Everything comes packed and very secure! I love that it's wrapped in tissue paper to make it look like a present! Subscriptions are like Christmas coming multiple times a month!
Surfcomber - Tousled Texture Mousse ($21.50) - My goodness, this is expensive! I tried this after taking a shower one night - big mistake. You are supposed to use this after a shower and then blow dry, so I would definitely have to shower in the morning to use it. It made my hair very big, though, so be careful if your hair has a tendency to be big like mine does!
Ciate Paint Pot in Cha Cha Cha ($5.55) - I have been wanting to try Ciate for a while now, and this was a great color to test. Corals are difficult to achieve and last, but this definitely did. It was a two to three coat manicure, but I could see this being a great base for their caviar bead sets.
Jane Iredale Longest Lash Mascara ($7.86) - I admit, I have a ton of mascara laying around. Even so, I had to try this. Mascara in a squeeze tube, completely different. It definitely worked and has since been put in my makeup bag for travel touch-ups. I loved the brush and it did a great job separating and lengthening my lashes!
Too Faced Cosmetics Melted Liquified Long Wear Lipstick (Peony) ($8.40) - This is one product I've been dying to try out, but it was too expensive for such mixed reviews. I'm not sure about the darker colors, but this is a great color to use on its own or layering with a deep red to mix. The applicator is great and I love how long it lasted!
Kate Somerville Dilo Oil Restorative Treatment ($6.50) - I've received Kate Somerville samples before, but never this. I'm still not the biggest fan of receiving wrinkle products, just because I'm still at the point where I'm preventing and not fixing. This is a great little gift to give to my mom, so hopefully she loves it!

The TF Melted to see what it looks like on my pale hand! :)
This box's total was $49.81 and still included the $10 off coupon, so it was worth the $16.05 I paid for it. I loved enough of this box to be more than worth it, and I'm sure I'll eventually figure out the mousse! Did anyone else get Sample Society this month? Any thoughts on it?
