Love with Food - June 2014

As my second month with Love with Food, I had a better idea of what to expect. This one was better than last months, but still had things that were wasted, which I hate. I really hate it because this box donates to hungry kids but I'm still wasting the items they send me. Luckily, not too much was wasted! :)

For those that don't know, Love with Food is a monthly food subscription box that has organic or all-natural snacks. There are two sizes, the Tasting Box and the Deluxe Box. The Tasting Box (which is what I get) has 8+ snacks and donates one meal to hungry kids in America. It is as low as $10/month and free shipping with a yearly subscription (shipping is $2/box without a yearly subscription). The Deluxe Box has 16-20 snacks and donates two meals to hungry kids in America. It is as low as $17/month with a yearly subscription or $19.95/month if you do it monthly. They have a review program where you get points to use in their store (10 points per item, points for taking boxes, referral program) that is also great. Their store includes items found in boxes as well as other snacks and past boxes at a slightly higher cost than if you had taken that box. Now on to the box!

The pretty pink box. I love that it was wrapped when it came in so nothing spilled, just in case there were spillable (not really a word) food stuff in it.

First look. It was packed in there tight! Always a good thing because I felt like I got my money's worth out of it.

This month's theme was Take Me Out to the Ballgame, which is very fitting of this month. I'm not a huge baseball fan (I know, it's blasphemy), but I still like the food/snacks associated with going to a ballgame!

The information card. I love that the twitter handles are included for the products with one. It helps me if I want to reach out to the company directly, as people usually respond to twitter faster than email these days.

YumEarth Organics Fruit Snacks ($1.08) - These are supposedly gummy snacks that are flavored in pineapple, raspberry, and mango. The concept is a great one, gummy snacks that are vegan/organic with only 75 calories. It's a great thing that kids should love, right? Wrong. These were hard, not gummy, and with a bad flavor. I tried to chew it the best I could but ended up swallowing it whole/gnawed on. This is not something I will be purchasing.

Stoneridge Orchards Montmorency Cherries ($1.33) - I like cherries (the ones in the jar and mixed drinks, not fresh ones), and these were a good snack. I love most dried fruit and so this was a win for me. I like that there was only 100 calories in the pack (it's amazing how many calories are in fruits) and that there's only three ingredients in it (cherries, cane sugar, sunflower oil). I will definitely consider buying these for me!

Good for You Granola ($2.50) - This is a great idea! Granola that's supposed to taste like an almond butter & jelly sandwich. While I'm partial to peanut butter, I did like this quite a bit. It was a little pressed together when I first got it and it needed to be left out to be softened, but was worth it after that. It's a little expensive for what little bit you get, but considering it is all natural and has fruits/seeds/nuts and not just granola, I'll probably buy again.

The Cookie Department Snapback Cookie ($2.64) - Oh. My. Gosh. This was amazing. It tastes just like gingerbread from Christmas, great idea! It was definitely my favorite thing in the box and my fiance's as well. I like that it was a good, big cookie (not some puny kid's size cookie) that has health benefits to go with it (it detoxes your body!). This will definitely be purchased!

G.H. Cretors Chicago Mix Popped Corn ($1.29) - This definitely matched the theme of the box, but not my taste buds. I like caramel popcorn, I like cheese popcorn, but I do not like when they are allowed to mix together and touch. Individually, these are decently good, but I can find similar (individually packed) popcorns that are much cheaper.

Snikiddy Cheddar Baked Fries ($1.08) - Baked fries would have been good if I were 16 again, or if I had kids. But I didn't enjoy these at all. It's not that they are a bad product, I just don't enjoy the unhealthy, greasy baked fries, so healthy ones are marginally worse.

Dolcetto Chocolate-Filled Cookies ($1.00) - I had super high hopes for this. I like chocolate and I like pillow cookies, but there was just something off about them that I didn't like. My fiance ate a few as well and the rest went in the trash, unfortunately. 

Tree Hugger Gumballs ($0.27) - The cheapest item in the box and the one I was most excited about. It tasted amazing and was easy to chew without breaking my jaw. The flavor lasted and I was able to blow bubbles with it, super win. I will definitely be buying these so I can try all of the flavors!

The value of this box was $11.19, so not quite the cost of the box. With the points, however, it was marginally worth it. 

What was everyone's take on this month's box? Did anyone get the Deluxe box and get something different than what was in my box? I would love to hear back about it!
