Ipsy Glam Bag - June 2014

Ipsy had troubles this month, and therefore had a lot of angry subscribers. I wasn't angry, but I am impatient and like to spoil myself. Luckily, it shipped quickly and I was able to get it in on Friday (record shipping for Ipsy). This month's theme was 'Pretty in Paradise', which fit for some things more than others.

For those that don't know, Ipsy is a monthly subscription priced at $10/month that sends 4-5 products plus a different makeup bag each month. They also have a referral program where you earn points for referring people to joining. Those points can also be earned for sharing your bag on Facebook and reviewing the products you receive. The nice part is they offer coupons for their monthly items and you can get the coupons for all products in all bags that month, just not yours. The points earned can be used at 1000 increments to get their special items of the month/time period.

Isn't it always nice to see this pretty pink bag in your mailbox? :)

This month's bag was designed by Rebecca Minkoff. She is currently selling this bag, which has a similar print on a different fabric, for $75. She is a high-end designer and is very proud of her stuff. It's a cute bag, but nothing special. The fabric is what turns me off of it.

Laneige BB Cushion ($14.28) - This is a new product that uses a signature puff to get the product off of the cushion. It has decent coverage but is ridiculously expensive. There is also a tendency of it sinking into pores and exaggerating them, so a primer is necessary to use if you have a ton of pores (like me). It was nice that they included all three shades, so no one was left out. Very good marketing on their end.

Marc Anthony Dream Waves Beach Spray ($3.25) - This has a good smell to it, and does what all other beach sprays do. It is intended to make your hair look like it does after a day at the beach. My hair always looks so great after being in the ocean but I can never recreate it with sprays thus far. This one has come closer to replicating the look than any other product has to date. I still got a little scrunchy effect and some added, so it wasn't perfect. Still a decent product, though, for those that don't have super frizzy hair going in.

Nicka K Shimmer Eyeliner Green ($4.99) - This is a pretty color in person, but isn't photographing correctly. This is much greener than in pictures. This is definitely not for 22 year-old me, though. I would have loved something like this when I was 15, but have since grown out of it. This is a great product for doing an accent or layering eyeliners, especially on days with neutral eyes. I'm glad that it was green and not blue because it works with my eyes better.

NYX Butter Gloss Apple Strudel ($5.00) - I love these glosses. I have been using them for some time now, and was so excited to see it in my glam bag. I hadn't found this color in stores yet, but I love it now that I have it. This is a great gloss to add a little bit of color and shine to bare lips, or to lighten/darken a lip stick/stain without changing it too much. There is little stickiness and it moisturizes great, especially for the price! I was already planning on buying more, but now I will definitely.

Be a Bombshell Lash Out Mascara ($15) - First things first, yes...this smells awful. BaB posted on Facebook that this was due to them not using fragrances to mask the chemical smell, so I will give them the benefit of the doubt. After trying to use this, there was not enough product to be of any use. I have contacted both Ipsy and BaB to see what they are doing to rectify. I understand that they are not doing anything for those complaining because the product smells, but there not being any product to use is something that does need to be addressed. If their customer service is terrible to all customers, not just those complaining about a smell, I don't see this lasting long.
UPDATE: I have contacted both Ipsy and BaB. I cannot get a response from Ipsy and BaB was very rude in saying that they would not do anything because this came in an Ipsy bag. I do recommend purchasing from them unless you want to risk bad Customer Service, I know I will not purchase from them.
UPDATE #2: After further correspondence, BaB is sending me a replacement item. This gives me better hope in their company. Will update once I get more information.
UPDATE #3: BaB sent me two lovely products to replace the empty mascara. I was sent their Eye Crayon in Black Jack and their Lip Gloss in Hot Mess. I am very pleased with their customer service and encourage anyone to try their cosmetics, because they definitely will help however they can!

My bag stacked up. Total value was approximately $42.52 which is high for Ipsy. I loved my bag in general!! What was everyone else's thoughts on this month's bag?
